Boy Scouts aspiring to achieve the highest rank in scouting, Eagle Scout, must do a community service project to fulfill one of the rank advancement requirements. The project should benefit the community and organization it is being done for, as well as be challenging. The scout needs to show leadership and organization skills while completing the project.
Living Free has several Eagle Scout grade projects available. Projects at Living Free Animal Shelter benefit our efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for the rescued cats and dogs residing with us until new forever homes can be found.
In consideration the time and effort required to complete the project, Living Free will provide a plaque with the Eagle Scout's name, troop number and completion date posted at the project site. Living Free will also do a write-up about the completed project on our web site and quarterly newsletter.

Blackie Kennel Yards
Terrace outdoor dog yards to eliminate downward slope toward kennel. This would prevent the mud from collecting on the concrete and help keep dogs clean and dry, especially in rainy weather.
Mosie Kennel Rain Gutters
Replace old metal rain gutters. New gutters would keep area from flooding and forming ice on walkways in winter.
Kinship House
This is one of our cattery buildings in need of a fresh look (scraping, patching, painting, etc...).
Kinship House also needs larger outdoor enclosures for the cats to wander outside in a protected environment. These enclosures are completely screened in with snake mesh along the bottom and shade cloth overhead.
Dog Play Structures
Some need repairing and staining while a few need to be replaced entirely.
Give Life Park
Repair gazebo where needed, pressure wash and re-stain.
