Our Facilities

Living Free Animal Sanctuary is a refuge for dogs and cats rescued from euthanasia lists at municipal shelters. These animals are given the time, safety, and compassion they need to heal and thrive while waiting for their true forever homes.

We provide the best possible quality of life, while following essential shelter protocols to keep everyone safe and healthy. This includes quarantine periods for new arrivals, strict sanitization practices, and careful handling to reduce stress and prevent illness.

Our facilities balance structure with comfort, offering clean, secure spaces, daily care, and meaningful human interaction. Here, every animal has the chance to decompress, recover, and prepare for the loving home they deserve.

Quarantine

Our Quarantine Building is designed to keep new or recovering dogs safe and healthy. Each room features a cement floor for thorough disinfecting and a secure chain-link wall, allowing us to monitor dogs while maintaining proper isolation.

Each dog has access to a doggy door leading to an indoor area where they can relax. This gives them the opportunity to decompress while still having freedom to move between spaces.

This setup ensures a clean, safe, and comfortable environment while we follow essential health and quarantine protocols.

The yards

During the day, dogs have access to large outdoor yards where they can run, play, and enjoy fresh air and sunlight. The yards are enclosed with a solid wall topped by additional chain-link fencing, allowing maximum sunlight while preventing fence fighting. Shade structures and misters are provided to keep dogs cool and comfortable in the summer months, ensuring a safe and enjoyable outdoor environment year-round.

The bedrooms

At night—and during rain, snow, or extreme heat—all dogs are brought indoors where they have a safe and comfortable space to rest. The indoor kennels feature cement floors and tile walls that are easy to disinfect, keeping the area clean and healthy. Dogs who aren’t destructive enjoy cozy beds, blankets, and chew toys to stay comfortable and entertained overnight.

Dog Parks

Our dog parks give dogs a space to escape the kennel environment, run freely, play fetch, and explore new scents. These areas provide a fun, low-stress way for dogs to exercise, release energy, and enjoy socialization away from the other dogs’ barking.

Quarantine

Our Cat Quarantine Rooms provides a safe, quiet space for new or recovering cats. The small, secure rooms allows us to carefully monitor their health, follow strict sanitization protocols, and prevent the spread of illness. This ensures each cat stays healthy while adjusting to life at the sanctuary.

The rooms

Our Cat Rooms are designed for comfort, enrichment, and privacy. Each room has multiple litter boxes that are scooped daily, with floors mopped and all bedding refreshed regularly to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Cats have access to a variety of beds, cat towers, and hiding spots, allowing them to rest, play, and explore at their own pace. The layout encourages enrichment and provides plenty of spaces for shy or reserved cats to feel safe while interacting on their own terms.

The cattios

Our Cattios provide cats with safe access to the outdoors while enjoying fresh air and sunshine. Each enclosure features multiple cat trees, cozy spots, and plenty of enrichment, with cat doors that allow constant access in and out.

Many cats love feeling the mountain breeze, exploring the space, and watching birds and wildlife, giving them stimulation and enjoyment in a secure, stress-free environment.

Stables

The stalls

Horses on dietary restrictions have individual stalls where they can enjoy their meals safely and comfortably, ensuring each horse gets exactly what they need.

When not in their stalls, horses have the freedom to roam their paddocks and arena, stretching their legs, exploring, and enjoying the company of other horses. Shade is provided throughout their outdoor areas, offering cool spots to relax and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. This combination of structure and freedom helps our horses stay healthy, happy, and enriched every day.

The Pasture

Our 5-acre pasture gives horses plenty of room to stretch their legs, graze on fresh grass, and enjoy wide-open spaces. Rolling hills throughout the pasture provide natural opportunities to build strength, back, and core muscles, keeping horses physically fit and engaged.

This expansive area allows them to move freely, explore, and enjoy the outdoors in a safe and enriching environment, combining exercise, natural grazing, and mental stimulation.
